Business as a mode of Planetary Healing

Growing up, I never understood why they bulldozed the fields near my house where my friends lived. Every year, they cleared more green and replaced it with brown and beige all dry and dusty. I didn't do well with my peers, I preferred to watch ants over ever learning to shoot a free throw. My friends were smaller than me, with shiny spotted shell-like wings and buzzy attitudes. They hopped fast and had cotton tails. Some got so excited when I'd visit, whole flocks would fly up on colored wings, clicking and buzzing their excitement as I entered their green sanctuary at the edge of my new-build, cookie-cutter starter home subdivision. When I asked as a little why this was being cut down and what happened to my friends, adults would giggle at my naivete and proceed to school me on how the world works "Things that don't grow die! Same is true with homes and neighborhoods and businesses." When I would reply "what's wrong with what's growing there now?", some would say "well nobody can make a living off an empty field!"

Oh the "wisdom" of industry: consume, consume, consume, supply and demand "laws of market economics".....I just wondered where my friends went and why I couldn't watch  their interesting lives or be near them anymore.

I of course still don't have an epic answer for why things are the way they are and what fix-all solution could...well, fix it all. Maybe there isn't one. But, I do know that consumption and destruction are not the same thing. That's why I made this business, more of an experiment than anything. To see if I, some random kid who loves trees, animals, and bugs and the way they live and play, could build something better, or at least different. Not just for us as humans, but for US, as in all living things. A business that feeds as it consumes, that participates in the cycle of life rather than removing links from it's great and beautiful chain. To create a business that truly regenerates those who supply it, those who run it, and those it sells to as well as the Earth we all share, just by following its daily operations. I don't have many answers I am happy with from those earliest of questions, but I'm still searching. and as I find them, I'll share it all here. All I know now it that Dirt Pharmer doesn't add to the current issues of our world, some parts of it even reduce them in some small corner of a field in Montana or Oregon where life exists and plays. And for now, that's enough.

Thanks for reading, be kind to yourself and others (a bit more than is necessary) and stop to say hello to a friend (plant/animal) you don't normally notice today.
